Dalhousie Legal Aid Service (DLAS)

Founded in 1970, the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service is the oldest clinical law program in Canada and remains the only community law clinic in Nova Scotia.

Halifax Refugee Clinic

The Halifax Refugee Clinic is a not-for-profit, non-governmental, community-based organization funded by the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia and private donations.

Nova Scotia Legal Information Society (LISNS) Pro Bono Hub Pilot Project

Funded by the Access to Justice Fund as administered by the Law Foundation of Ontario and operated by the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia, the Pro Bono Hub Pilot Project is currently in the process of developing an online Pro-Bono Legal Services Hub. When launched, the Hub will connect Nova Scotia lawyers who are interested in providing some form of pro-bono service with those who are seeking legal services but cannot afford their own lawyer.

reachAbility

reachAbility is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to “improve access to justice, equality, and human rights for people living with disabilities and for those within their support systems.”

Family Law Project

PBSC’s multiple award-winning Family Law Project (FLP) assists litigants who are unable to afford the services of a lawyer or legal representative at family courts across the country. PBSC student volunteers help thousands of unrepresented litigants fill out forms, prepare documents for submission to the court, learn about court procedures and the family law system, and connect with additional legal resources in their area.

PBSC Wills Project

The Wills Project is a longstanding PBSC project, whose purpose is to assist seniors access information about drafting Wills and Testaments, as well as assisting with the drafting of a client’s Will. The project enables students to learn valuable client interview and management skills, while giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge outside of a classroom setting.
