OBA at the Hotline: Pro Bono Regional Challenge
We know OBA members are committed to expanding access to justice for those who need it most - and often enjoy a friendly competition. This is a challenge for you!
Make a difference where it's needed most
The OBA has partnered with Pro Bono Ontario (PBO) on an initiative to mobilize and motivate members in every region of the province to deliver vital legal advice to low-income Ontarians by donating time and expertise to the PBO Free Legal Advice Hotline. As a participant in the OBA at the Hotline Pro Bono Regional Challenge, you can make a meaningful impact while making your region proud. What's more, participating members from the region that has accumulated the most hours during the challenge period will be entered and randomly selected to win a fabulous night's stay at the Omni King Edward Hotel and other exciting prizes* - not to mention be awarded instant bragging rights!
In the spirit of camaraderie and service - with the support of PBO and your OBA community
Through the Challenge, which runs between June 5 and November 20, 2024, members from all practice backgrounds can make a difference, volunteering from your home, office, or even a boardroom with other lawyers as part of a team-building event. Hotline services are in 30-minute consultations that focus on helping callers answer their legal question that day - before legal problems can escalate and intensify. PBO offers volunteers onboarding, training and a wide range of resources and real-time to support to set you up to succeed in your role.
We know lawyers want to help and the OBA and PBO are making it easy and fun!
