Alternative Dispute Resolution

This Section will be of interest to all those who practise in the ADR field, either as mediators, arbitrators, counsel, facilitators and ADR process designers. There is an active educational component to our Section activities, including our well-known breakfast series, full and half day CLE and monthly Section meetings.

The Section actively advocates and lobbies for ADR issues. In 2005-2006 we were involved with advocacy on the expansion of mandatory mediation, An Act to Amend the Arbitration Act (Bill 27), Access to Justice Act (Paralegal Regulation Bill 14) and An Act to Amend the Human Rights Code (Bill 107). Our Section was also at the forefront of the successful intervention by the OBA before the Ontario Divisional Court in the leading case on mediation confidentiality (Rudd v Trossacs International Inc.).
