Award of Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution

Nomination Form 
 

The ADR Award of Excellence recognizes exceptional contributions and/or achievements in Alternative Dispute Resolution in one or more of the following areas: academic excellence (teaching or publication); development of excellent ADR practices; enhancement of the practice of ADR or its effective incorporation into the practice of law; leadership in the bar or the government or the Law Society of Upper Canada or OBA in relation to ADR issues, legislation and practice.

Past Winners:
Past recipient winners of the Award for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution include: The Honourable Mr. Justice Robert N. Beaudoin, Paul Iacono, Chief Justice Warren K. Winkler, Anne E. Grant, Allan J. Stitt, Leslie Macleod, Rick Weiler, Dr. Barbara Landau, Kathleen Kelly, Donald E. Short, June Maresca, D. Paul Emond and Genevieve A. Chornenki.

Eligibility:
Any individual not including current ADR Section Executive Members and the immediate Past Chair, who is an OBA member in good standing.

Presentation:
The award is presented usually at the joint OBA ADR Institute AGM.

Nomination procedure:
A nomination requires the signature of one OBA member in good standing. To assist the Committee, each nomination shall be accompanied by a one or two page summary of the reasons for the nomination.

Deadline for Applications:
Nominations and supporting material must be filed with the Nominations Committee of the ADR Section on a deadline to be set each year.

Selection Process:
The nomination committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to the SectionExecutive. The final decision shall be made by a majority vote of the Executive at a regular meeting of the Section Executive or at a special meeting of the Executive called for the purpose.

Award:
A plaque is presented to the recipient.
